William Greener's career

c. 1836 – 1869Percussion Revolution

The combative Newcastle-then-Birmingham gunmaker champions laminated-steel barrels, wins prize medals at the London, New York, and Paris exhibitions, and writes the era's standard treatises — while denouncing breech-loaders as unsafe to the end. His works pass at his death to son W.W. Greener, whose firm becomes one of Britain's great gunmaking houses.
